Practice to Powerhouse Council Monthly Confidential Forum Agenda


  • Council Focus: Designed for established firms committed to achieving accountability, operational excellence, and scalable growth frameworks that enhance firm-wide performance.
  • Meeting Agenda:
    • 7:45 – 8:00 a.m.: Arrival and Check-In (Networking and preparation).
    • 8:00 – 8:15 a.m.: Welcome, Contextualization, and Updates (Review of expectations, framing, confidentiality, and strategic themes by the Facilitator).
    • 8:15 – 9:15 a.m.: Member Accountability Review (Utilizing the SMART Goals Framework):
      • Specific: Clear, focused, and unambiguous objectives.
      • Measurable: Quantifiable or objectively assessable metrics.
      • Achievable: Realistic goals within the firm’s operational capacity.
      • Relevant: Objectives directly linked to the firm’s strategic direction.
      • Time-bound: Defined completion deadlines are required.
      • Members will present: 1. Progress toward prior month's SMART Goals; 2. Outcomes of their Bold Commitment; 3. Identification of obstacles, successes, or topics for discussion.
    • 9:15 – 9:30 a.m.: Pressing Issues Identification.
    • 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.: Deep-Dive #1: Strategic Imperative (Focused analysis of a major issue).
    • 10:30 – 10:40 a.m.: Recess.
    • 10:40 – 11:40 a.m.: Deep-Dive #2: Rotating Firm Challenge (In-depth exploration of a rotating firm-specific challenge).
    • 11:40 – 12:00 p.m.: Execution Planning and New Commitments (Development of action plans and establishment of future commitments).
    • 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.: Working Luncheon (Provided).
  • ADDITIONAL DISCUSSION SECTION: Economic Engine Review and Practice Area Portfolio
    • Requirements: Members are required to update their Matrix (maps current practice area portfolio) and Diagnostic (provides methodology for optimizing, expanding, delegating, or phasing out). Collectively, these form a singular strategic management system.
    • Firm Presentation Analysis Details:
      • Economic Engine Practice Area: Primary source of revenue generation.
      • Secondary Practice Area: Areas supporting growth or volume demands.
      • Limited Practice Area: Services demonstrating low Return on Investment (ROI) or legacy services.
      • Mission Practice Area: Work that is strategically significant or impact-driven.
    • Group Discussion Focus:
      • Analysis of most profitable to least profitable segments.
      • Assessment of capacity, market demand, and requisite staffing levels.
      • Comprehensive review of pricing structures.
      • Opportunities for elimination, optimization, or expansion of services.

      Strategic Goal: To ensure the alignment of firm resources with high-value endeavors, maximize profitability, and refocus professional time on activities yielding the highest returns.
